Elder Loving Care : Oral Hygiene
Caregiver Training

Learn important information on the needs, techniques, and benefits of good oral care in aging populations experiencing significant disability.

Poor oral hygiene can have serious consequences for this vulnerable population. Research shows stroke, aspiration pneumonia, and other infections link to the same bacteria which often presents first in a gum or tooth infection. From the mouth, the inhaled bacteria can cause pneumonia or travel via bloodstream to other parts of the body. The same infections can also cause higher blood sugar levels in diabetic residents.
