The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is a federally mandated program wherein volunteers advocate for resident rights in nursing and assisted living facilities.

To work with residents, families and facility staff to improve the quality of life of residents in long term care.

What is an Ombudsman?

An ombudsman is a volunteer specially trained certified to advocate for resident's rights. A volunteer, certified by the State of Texas, Department of Aging and Disability, is assigned to one nursing or assisted living facility.

You Can! Volunteers need to be over 18 years old and living in Harris County. We provide the training and any support you might need after you become certified.
